Your Guide to Controlled Sprints in FC 24

The Controlled Sprint feature is one of many brand-new features added to FC 24. We’re here to help you get your head wrapped around it. With how popular it has been, you can expect it to be included in each iteration of the game going forward. If you need to buy them, don’t forget you can buy FUT coins Xbox and PlayStation through sites like u7buy.com.

What is Controlled Sprint?

If you want to make a break in any FC game (plus the original FIFA games), you would have needed to sprint. Your player couldn’t sprint far, but the sprint feature was often enough to just break away from the opposing players and, hopefully, have a decent run on goal.

Chances are, you used that sprint feature a lot. The problem was that if you sprinted, you lost a bit of control of the ball (which made sense). This is where controlled sprint comes in. When you have a controlled sprint, you’ve got more control of the ball at your feet, which makes it easier to move about, while also having a decent amount of speed. You can’t quite run as fast as you would if you used the standard sprint, but sometimes you don’t need to be doing that.

How to Use Controlled Sprint

To use the controlled sprint, you’ll need to do the following while the ball is in your possession:

  • Press the R1 button on your PlayStation controller.
  • Press the RB button on your Xbox controller.

You’ll then want to push the directional stick in the direction you want to sprint in.

When to Use Controlled Sprint

You shouldn’t be using controlled sprint to launch yourself up the pitch. Instead, you should be using controlled sprint if you’ve got to change directions rapidly. For example, imagine you’re playing as a striker. You’re heading toward the goal, and suddenly your opponent blocks your path. Using controlled sprint can get you around them quickly. Hit the button just right, and your opponent might not have the time needed to react to your movement.

You might also want to use it, albeit sparingly, when you want a bit more control over clearing your ball from your defense. Although, you would probably be better off kicking the ball out rather than sprinting it out here. You don’t want to run the risk of being tackled, right?

You Should Also Know

Controlled sprint works with any player in the game, but you’ll especially want to use it with players that have the following traits:

  • First Touch Control
  • Speed Dribbler
  • Fast Break

When they have these traits, they’ll either be faster, or have a bit more control over the ball. Obviously, it depends on which trait they have. If you’ve bought FC boosting, then you’ll almost certainly want to use this feature at the upper end of the game. Ideally, it will be your midfielders and strikers that have these traits.
